HELLO NYC
It has truly been forever since I have connected with you all. My life has been changing so rapidly that I needed some time to breath and catch up on getting reacquainted with myself. So I took a pause and spent much of my time focusing on me. Naturally it was time to step back since I had been feeling , high levels of stress and anxiety. Over the past month I have traveled a ton, and spent some time in Florida, Atlanta, and as of this weekend New York City and let me tell you I fell in love with NY and have found a new sense of self since visiting.
The city is so vibrant and there is so much to do! I was only there for five days, but it felt like a month which was great! I truly felt like I lived like a New Yorker because I spent my first day exploring the city entirely on my own. I ventured to the Lincoln Center, spent time pursuing the shops at the Chelsea Market, walked part of the high line, ate a delicious poké bowl at POKEE, spent some time people watching in Washington Square Park, took a hella intense hiphop class at (305) Fitness and then ended my first full day in the city watching the broadway musical Beautiful. Fwheew its almost exhausting just writing about my first day, but I had a blast and felt so empowered to spend an entire day in a new city traveling and exploring on my own. It felt so freeing to not have to depend on a single person to get around the city and to just do all the things that I love. It had been a long time since I took an entire day to just do the things that sounded fun and interesting to me, and damn it felt incredible!
My second day in the city was spent with my little, where we had a fantastic brunch at Maison Pickle, roamed around Central Park, and ended our day in Brooklyn to run a 5k! Now, if you would have asked me if I had intentions to run a 5k while on vacation the answer would have been absolutely not! But I wanted to spend as much time with Wilson as possible, and she had already signed up. The run ended up being a great time, and we did more dancing than running! It was the night nation run where everyone wore glow lights and after every mile stopped at a new venue with a DJ to dance. The entire run ended with a rave and we had a blast!
My little and I spent a ton of time in Central Park taking tons of photos in my new romper
I spent my last full day in the city on my own and got to catch up with on of my friends from undergrad who had just recently moved to New York. We ate at a delicious Mexican restaurant called Cilantro and walked around the bazaar in the upper west side and ended up running into the filming of flea market flip! After we said our goodbyes I spent some time in SoHo shopping and stopped at the brick and mortar BirchBox store and discovered some incredible non-toxic beauty brands that were new to me! Then I went back to (305) Fitness and took another hiphop class which was so much fun! I loved this gym and it was great to be able to find a place that made me feel so welcomed! My last stop of the day was Hu Kitchen, which is a completely gluten free and keto friendly restaurant with AMAZING food! Once my day in the city had ended I wandered back to Wilson's and watched the Tonys.
My days in New York were packed to the brim and I cannot wait to return back (hopefully very soon)! My time in New York inspired me to continue to seek out the things that I love and appreciate spending time alone. This was one of the first times in my life where I was intentionally alone and it felt great! If you ever have the opportunity to do travel solo, I recommend it 100% because it will make you a stronger more independent and confident person.
