Let’s be real y’all, ever since the pandemic hit my workout game has taken one for the team. Any by take one for the team, I mean she was a bench seat warmer for many weeks. That is until I found TikTok and started making workout challenges, and then I found a few amazing apps to keep me going. Needless to say the way we workout has completely changed.
I am a class junkie by nature. I feel inspired from others energy in a class and you all know I love to shake my booty at any hip hop and Zumba class I can find. I walk more now than I ever have before, and have found a few tips and tricks that have helped me to get back into a new rhythm to move and exercise! And no, you don’t need to buy a Peloton bike or some other expensive workout piece to get moving… All you need is you, and maybe a few dumbbells! Here are the five things that are keeping me going!
Motivated to Move: Five Tips To Workout At Home
ONE: phone a friend
Just like in the game of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, when you get the chance to lean on a friend and call them to help with getting a question answered… you do it! When it comes to finding workout motivation you can do the same IRL and make a pact with one of your pals to be virtual workout besties. This can look different based on what you need. You can do the same virtual workout on YT together, join a virtual class and then chat about it afterwards, or make up the routines and do it over FaceTime. Let me tell you all, your friends will keep you going when it comes to working out together!
TWO: Follow Fitness Accounts That Inspire You
I personally find so much inspiration from content content creators who focus on fitness! There are a ton of great people to follow and it seems like there is something for everyone these days. A few of the creators that inspire me are Meg Boggs who does all kinds of great TikTok challenges and is an OG in the inclusive fitness world. I also really love Fit Fat And All That, she always has weekly dance jam sessions and is overall just an amazing woman to follow!
THREE: Use A Fitness App
YouTube is one of my go-to “apps” for finding fitness videos. I personally love the 305Fitness channel, The Fitness Marshal and Dance Fitness With Jessica, they all offer amazing hiphop and Zumba classes ranging in a variety of different levels. When I am looking to do more core and weightlifting I love to use FitOnApp and have also heard amazing things about the Obe Fitness app as well. What I love about the apps is that they will send you daily workout reminders and you can easily set up so many preferences for what your workouts!
FOUR: Do Workouts You Actually Enjoy
I am a firm believer that exercise is a celebration of all that your body can do! For me, it’s not about weight loss, it’s about self love and finding ways to do more of the things that you love. There are so many different ways you can get moving and you should do what you actually enjoy. Personally, I love going for daily walks with my pup, and you all know I love to shake my bum bum as often as possible. If it’s something that you actually enjoy doing, you are more likely to turn it into a habit!
FIVE: Wear A Workout Outfit That Makes You Feel Amazing
One of the best ways to get motivated is to wear something that you feel amazing in! I love fashion, and that includes feeling fashionable and sexy in the clothes I am sweating in. Let’s make sweat sexy, by feeling great in what we are wearing. I have found so many different inclusive exercise brands that make me feel amazing. Including this killer outfit I am wearing below! The leggings are from Lululemon and the top is a sale find from Nike! I also love Beyond Yoga, Girlfriend Collective and Adidas! They all make me feel 100% like a boss who can take on anything that comes my way!
Well that’s it from me, I love finding new ways to be motivated and I hope you all know just how much you motivate and inspire me every day! Let me know what motivates you?
